ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS RIGHT FOR YOU?
If you are frustrated with your full or partial dentures or are embarrassed of gaps in
your smile, dental implants may be the solution for you! In the past, patients have
been afraid of both the procedure of placing dental implants and of the amount of
money it will cost them. Thanks to advanced technology, these fears may no longer
be warranted! Here are some common questions patients ask and their answers:
How are dental implants placed?
Placing implants is usually a simple dental procedure, and is, more often that not,
more comfortable than even having a tooth pulled! The dentist creates a space in
the bone for the implant to be placed. The implant, made of strong titanium, is a
small peg, which is inserted, sitting at or above the gums. Your dentures or crown
rest on top of the peg, which anchors them to the jaw.
How much will they cost me?
You may be pleasantly surprised at the affordability of dental implants. Because
each case is unique, we like to meet with you individually to discuss your options, at
no cost to you, including a comprehensive set of x-rays -- absolutely free.
What if I am afraid of “surgery?”
Because of advances in technology, placing most dental implants is not nearly as
traumatic as it was in the past. More of a “dental procedure” rather than “surgery,”
many implant patients are able to return to their normal activities the next day. For
the nervous or fearful patient, our office offers anxiety reducing medication that can
help you relax throughout your procedure.
Will my health issues prevent me from being an eligible candidate for
dental implants?
There are few health limitations on candidates for dental implants. As a general rule,
if you are able to have routine dental treatment, you are typically eligible for dental
implants, including patients with chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and
diabetes.
Virtually all of our patients who have had dental implants successfully placed are
very happy with both their decision and the result. They can finally smile and chew
with confidence, knowing their dentures will stay in place! We see people who have
gone years without wearing a denture because of discomfort and frustration, who,
after having dental implants placed, are able to wear their dentures daily with
confidence and with no pain! The most common statement we hear among our
patients is, “I wish I would have done this sooner!”
We would love to visit with you as you consider dental implants. Remember, your
consultation and x-rays are absolutely free of charge -- whether you decide dental
implants are right for you or not. We are confident, through experience, that dental
implants can make your life happier and easier!
